Livermore Wine Country Birthday

What an amazing day!!!  There is nothing like spending time with good friends: Carl, Julia, Todd, Jenny, and my amazing wife Rachel.

The day started out at one of my favorite Livermore wineries, Longevity.  Phil and Debra are the best.  They make you feel like family when coming to the Longevity tasting room.  Debra is always there to greet us with a smile.  When it comes to the chemistry of winemaking, Phil is a wealth of knowledge and is more than willing to share that knowledge with anyone who has an interest.  We can’t forget about Preston, the lovable ball of fur who is always there to say hello.

The next stop was Livermore’s Thomas Coyne Winery.  I have not been there before, but it is definitely a stop I will be making in the future.  The surrounding Livermore landscape was beautiful and the tasting room made me feel like I was back in the days when wine making began.  Great wine and a very friendly staff.

The last Livermore winery of the day was Tenuta.  From what I hear, their motto is, “Give us 30 minutes and we will be friends for life.”  From my experience, that motto rang true.  Upon entering the tasting room, we were greeted by Rich.  He had a bubbly personality and never stopped smiling.  Even though it was the first time we met and almost closing time, Rich gave us the royal treatment.  He took us on a personal tour of the Tenuta cellar and provided us with a barrel tasting of some excellent wine.  He was quick to pick up on Jenny’s love for Karaoke and had her singing, with mic in hand, for the other Tenuta tasting room patrons.  Before leaving Rich graciously gave us a signed bottle of the 2005 Tenuta Syrah to enjoy with our dinner.

We finished off the night at Livermore’s Kawa Sushi.  The Syrah went wonderfully with dinner.

Here is to good friends and good wine.  Many thanks to my wife for planning the outing and to my Bryersantis family for making my birthday wonderful.
