Wild Hare Winery California Petite Sirah

California Petite Sirah

I don’t know a lot about Petite Sirah so I found this little blurb on the internet.  “Petite Sirah is one of a group of grapes that took to a new home – in this case California – after moving from the relative obscurity enjoyed at its birthplace – France in this case – where it is called Duriff. While never particularly elegant nor subtle, Petite Sirah can produce large-scaled, intense wines with bright flavors of blue and plummy fruits, rich with earthy tannins.”  Another Livermore Grocery Outlet find for under 5 bucks a bottle.  I know I’ve mentioned a few wines from the “G.O.” lately because you just can’t beat the price of a good every day wine for that price!  The trick is finding it.  This is a good example of a great find at the “G.O”.  Wild Hare Winery California Petite Sirah.  Bottled and cellared in Paso Robles, this red wine has some kick to it.  This isn’t one of those wines where you can pick out certain flavors like chocolate, butter, plum, etc, it’s just a full bodied good wine.  I can say that it does have some pepper to it.  Not a lot, but enough to go well with a nice steak.  I did a little research on the internet and people suggested that this might not go well with dinner, and it may not for some.  It may be one of those wines you open up with friends, on the beach to relax and watch the water with…..just like the bunny on the label.  Cheers!
