Another beautiful Friday afternoon in September is here once again. This time Jenny and I headed to Swirl for a light lunch before doing some new “research”. Swirl is starting to become a bit of a ritual with us, but when you find something that great, you can’t help but want to go back again […]
Well, Last Thursday night we celebrated my son’s 11th birthday. We asked him where he wanted to eat and he said Grazie in Brentwood. We have been to Grazie many times before, but they have recently moved. A great location centered in the new shopping center, Streets of Brentwood. Julia called […]
I just returned home today from a week long work trip away from the family. It is great to be back.
We decided to have a little BBQ for dinner tonight so I looked through the wine rack to find a wine that would go well with […]
Livermore Trader Joe’s is selling an excellent white this week. It’s the Pancake Cellars 2009 Big Day White. Imagine this: BBQ turkey burger, grilled onions, chili and shredded cheese. What do I do for wine? I pulled out the pre-chilled Pancake. It’s a blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Muscat Canelli and Pinot Blanc. It’s […]
So, this past weekend, a year and a half’s work finally came to fruition. My 20 year high school reunion was amazing! You always want everyone to come, but sometimes realize that the perfect group showed up. It started Friday night with a mixer at Sanctuary. Saturday morning brought a very intimate brunch with […]
It has been a fun time learning the wine making process. From the bubbling of the initial fermentation process to the juice squirting mess that comes with the pressing process, I am looking forward to learning more about how to make fantastic wine.
Carl and I had the opportunity on Sunday to visit Phil […]
Not too much new research that happened this Friday, but it was still a great Friday! Sometimes you just want to revisit the tried and true like Swirl and El Sol. What a great afternoon. It’s rare on a Friday afternoon when all six of us can come together for lunch but we did […]
We are converting our tool shed into a winery/wine cellar! Ken has been working hard all weekend installing the A/C unit and putting up insulation to make our shed ideal for wine making. We are well on our way to a fun little space to make a wine! We have been very blessed […]
A bit of walnut. Dark midnight red color. Light red taste. I’ve ordered the 2005 Stony Ridge Trifecta Petite Syrah here at Swirl in Livermore. I’m having the turkey pesto and the Swirl expert promises it will go well together. This wine will do fine for lunch, dinner or after dinner. I love the syrahs.
