Sunday night…normally I’d be singing the Sunday night blues but not tonight! I’m off work for two whole weeks to enjoy Christmas and New Years. I always look forward to this time of the year. Great time for me to recharge and spend some time at home with the family relaxing. Went to the Livermore Grocery Outlet and picked up a few bottles of wine. Found the Mavrik Cellars 2006 Grenache for $2.99 a bottle. Can’t beat that! Another great example of an awesome wine that the Livermore Grocery Outlet has to offer.
The wine maker says, “Brilliant ruby red, with aromas of wild strawberries and raspberry ganache and hints of wet stone that intertwine with bright jammy fruit, dark cherry, and currants, supported by choclolaty tannins and a fresh, lingering finish.” I agree! Definitely a smooth drinkable wine that is not too peppery or overbearing. Lots of plumby fruit forward goodness with a great, great, great nose. Makes me want to strap a glass of Mavrik Grenache to my nose and walk around the house! I found the more I held the glass of wine in my hand swirling it a bit, the more it started tasting like a port or dessert wine. Kinda interesting….I don’t know how many of you like that quality in a wine but I love it.
Run out to the Livermore Grocery Outlet and get a few bottles to try. At $2.99 a bottle you really have nothing to lose! As always, all are welcome to comment back to let me know what you think. Cheers….
