Big Changes For Las Positas Vineyards

With all of the family events this weekend, I was surprised to find a free hour on Saturday, but I knew exactly what to do with that hour.  Over the last year, the Bryersantís family has made it a goal to visit all of the wineries in the Livermore Valley.  One of the wineries I had not yet visited was Las Positas Vineyards and now was the time.  The Las Positas Vineyard tasting room is currently located in an industrial park on Pinnacle Place, which is just off of Greenville Road near I-580.  Upon walking into the tasting room, I was greeted by Brian Mom who led me through the tasting of LPV’s finest wines.  These wines include the following:

2007 Petite Sirah from the Casa de Viñas Covarrubias Vineyard

2008 Livermore Valley Barbera

2007 Chardonnay from the Maier Family Vineyard

2008 Chardonnay from the Maier Family Vineyard

2009 Chardonnay from the Maier Family Vineyard

2007 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Casa de Viñas Covarrubias Vineyard

2008 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Casa de Viñas Covarrubias Vineyard

While talking with Brian, I learned that there were big changes in store for LPV.  They have recently purchased the property located at 1828 Wetmore Road.  The transfer to the new property is still in progress, but we can expect a great tasting experience at this new location once the transition is finalized.  This will be a great move for LPV as it will move them from their current tasting room, which is off the beaten path, to an area of the Livermore Valley that boasts the vineyards that produced the grapes that won the first international acclaim for the Livermore Valley and California wine.  We will be sure to fill you in on the details about the new winery/tasting room as we learn about them.

Even though things are busy with the big move, that has not stopped LPV from working on the expansion of their wine selection.  Later this year they will be releasing a Tempranillo, Orange Muscat, and new vintages of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.  If these prove to be anything like their current wines, we are in for a real treat.

Be sure to stop by and visit Las Positas Vineyard’s current tasting room, 682 Pinnacle Place, and enjoy another one of the fine wineries that Livermore has to offer.
