The Bryersantis Quarterly Report Wine Flight at The PourHouse!

In case you didn’t make it out last Sunday, we had a blast at our Wine Flight release party held at Livermore’s own Winemaker’s PourHouse.  Live music by Joey T, drawings with wine being given away, great food, great wine (of course), and our own Jenny singing at the mic!  Fun had by all.  The latest collaboration by Bryersantis and the PourHouse has created one awesome wine flight.  It truly is a hit!  It’s affordable too at $11.  The flight includes, Wood Family’s 2008 Syrah, Cuda Ridge’s 2009 Cabernet Franc, and Fenestra’s 2008 Alvarelhao.  It will be on their menu for as long as they have the wine in stock.  Please get out there and give it a try, let me know what you think of our picks.  I’ve included tasting notes of the selected wines.  The facts have been taken from the official release flyer that the PourHouse printed up for our special night.  The wine makers themselves chimed in as well.  Hope you enjoy the clever and creative descriptions.  Maybe the tasting notes will tempt you to give our flight a shot!

Wood Family 2008 Syrah Livermore Valley

Each year we are fortunate to receive high quality grapes from the Madden Ranch Vineyard located above the Poppy Ridge Golf Course and owned by John Madden and his family.  Our grapes are sourched from a specific hillside.  Like a two sided coin, this blood red wine offers the best of both worlds.  The nose opens up to sweet blueberry glace pie with vanilla cream and exotic floral notes of orchid.  the flip side gives you pastrami, grahite and dark, rich soil.  One taste tells you that the medium-high acides and tannis will make this wine great with food and last for years in the cellar.  If drinking this wine young, decant to bring out the fruit and soften the tannins.  Or pick up a case to lay down and enjoy in the years to come.

Cuda Ridge 2009 Cabernet Franc, Livermore Valley

Do you like perfume?  Stick your nose in this gorgeous glass of wine and breath in the beckoning perfume of sandalwood and raspberries.  The most aromatic of red wines, Cabernet Franc tends toward a purity of expression that makes it so coveted.  Larry’s 2009 Cabernet Franc is beautiful to behold, enticingly fragrant, and filled with sweet red raspberries and red licorice, lurking among layers of pomegranate and hints of prosciutto.  The smooth, velvety texture makes this wine a delight to drink on its own.  The mouthfeel is elegant and amazing.  Even better than the 08, which was frankly, Franc’in delicious, this comes from the White Cat vineyards in Crane Ridge, where we have more control of the vineyard.  It was aged in French oak with a slight amount of American.

Fenstra Winery 2008 Alvarelhao, Lodi Silvaspoons Vineyards

Alvarelhao is a grape traditionally grown in Portugal.  It exhibits aromas of freesia, blueberry and raspberry, and Gardenia.  This medium bodied wine is fruit forward with complex flavors of plum, sour cherry, mocha and spice.  This wine is delicious with roasted duck, venison, and pork loin.
